Finding My Course on the World Wide Web
This page is a generic guide to finding courses I teach on the World Wide Web. If you're reading it on the Web itself, you don't need it, but you may wish to print a copy for a friend who's new to the Internet.
Do you currently have an Auburn e-mail ID and
access
to the "mallard" system? If so, read on. If not, go to item "B"
("Access via Mosaic or Netscape") below.
A. Access via Mallard
- From your usual computer, go into mallard.
- Type "lynx http://www.auburn.edu/~burnsma" (without the quotes). Hit ENTER. This will get you my home page.
- Now select "Courses I Teach" using the right arrow key.
- Follow your nose from there to the listing for this course. You now have access to all the
information on this course, but not the graphics.
B. Access via Mosaic or Netscape
(for those who don't have
an Auburn e-mail address or who want a full graphical connection)
- Go to any Auburn University public access computer site.
- If you're on a PC, mouse-click (double click) on "AU Net". For a Mac,
click "AUMacNet".
- You should now see either Mosaic or Netscape. If not, find another
machine.
- Click on Mosaic or Netscape (for Netscape, you may also have to click
Netscape itself from a Netscape directory).
- You should now be on the Auburn homepage. If not, see "C," below.
- Mouseclick on the button marked "Academic Programs".
- Now, using the mouse and the scroll bar to the right of the screen,
scroll down to "Other Academic Programs" and click on that.
- Now choose "Health Administration Program" and click on that.
- You should now be on the home page for the HA Program. Scroll down until you come across the reference to "Dr. Burns's home page." Click on that.
- You should now be on my home page. Scroll down as necessary to find "Courses I Teach". Click on that item.
- Follow your nose from there to the listing for this course.
C. If you're on Mosaic or Netscape but the Auburn page doesn't come
up.
- On the left hand side of the display, click "File". This should pull
down a menu including an option along the lines of "Open URL". Click on
that.
- Type in: "http://www.auburn.edu" (without the quotes); click on the
"open" button. (Don't just press ENTER)
- You should now be on the Auburn main page. Proceed as in B-6-11 above.
