About Mark Burns

Mark Burns is Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and former Director of the Health Administration Program at Auburn University. He holds the Ph.D. in Political Science from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, plus the A.M. degree in Political Science from Indiana and the B.A. degree in Political Science from Lambuth College Jackson, Tennessee. He has been teaching at Auburn since 1975.

His primary teaching areas are health administration, health policy, and organization theory, and he has developed Web-based course materials.

Research by Dr. Burns has appeared in such journals as:

The Journal of Health and Human Services Administration
The Southeastern Political Review

He is married to Janet Burns, Administrative Coordinator for the Alabama Council on Human Relations, Auburn, and has four adult children--Susan, Thomas, Alan, and Elizabeth. They are active members of Trinity Lutheran Church.
